3 tools that have healed my depressive episodes & anxiety
“This feels like it will last forever.”
“How can I get out of this?”
“The pain and heaviness keep coming back.”
I get it. More than you know.
After severe family and relationship stressors (as many of you may know from my videos), I spent years feeling trapped in a depressive episode.
But here’s a mindset shift for you that I learned during this process: nothing is broken or wrong. Your body is just being vulnerable and showing you its wounds.
As much as it hurts, and as frustrating as it may be, your body is so desperately asking you to be there for it.
It needs a friend.
To help you with this process, here are 3 tools that have helped me become a better friend to myself and my body.
I’m at a point now where I haven’t had a depressive episode in years.
I still get dark thoughts and anxiety, but I have so many tools in my toolbox that it never sticks around.
I’ve formed such a beautiful relationship with myself and my body that we both know the truth:
nothing lasts forever.
Whatever arises in the mind is just supposed to teach us something.
So we don’t have to identify with any of it.
1. Active energy movement
Active breathwork. EFT tapping. Heavy weightlifting. Dance. Somatic shaking. Running.
All of these options have one thing in common: they help release the excess energy in your body.
When there is a lack of movement in the body, the mind will be flooded with thoughts.
Pick one practice from the list above (active breathwork and weightlifting are my favorites), and commit to just five minutes today.
Start small. It matters more than you think.
2. Talk to your higher self
Specifically, ask them: How do you treat yourself in low moments?
Because every human has low moments. That’s the nature of life— yin-yang.
When I did this practice, I realized that I wasn’t treating myself with as much grace as I wanted to. So I started becoming very aware of critical thoughts, and used them as cues to focus on my breath.
Intuitively, you know how you would care for a wounded puppy that showed up on your doorstep.
You deserve that same compassion, patience, and understanding.
3. Tap into your alchemy power
Without strong hurt emotions, much of the world’s best music, art, athletes, films, and stories wouldn’t exist.
Pain is an invitation to create.
And here’s the thing: depression and creation don’t exist on the same frequency.
You don’t need to be an expert to alchemize your emotions.
When I feel anxious, I write down all of my thoughts. I’ll read and connect with poetry or music.
Humans are born to create.
When the mind is hyperactive, that is so much excess energy you can use.
P.S.
If you want deeper support, I created a workbook to help you during this process.
I’m also building an in-depth online program.
It’ll have deep-dive videos & resources of all the details that have shifted everything for me and many others.
To the 14-Day Energy Shifters and interested members, I’d love to gift you lifetime access at a discount and invite your input on what you’d love to see included in the program.
Since this is my first time building something like this, I want it to feel deeply valuable and aligned with what you and others on this journey would need.
