"I want a new life, but nothing is changing." This is why.
🍀 stop thinking and start shifting 🍀
Dear alchemists,
Have you ever had a thought like…
“I feel like I am the exact same person I was a year ago.”
“How long is this going to take?”
“I feel like I’m right back where I started.”
“Nothing is changing.”
WELL, THEN YOU ARE IN FOR A TREAT. Today’s letter is all about tapping OUT of that mindset and into the Truth: your reality can change rapidly. But, only once you do. You are the commander here.
For years, I felt that exact same way. I felt like I had the same desires, same problems, and was changing in my reality, even though I felt like I was going through all of these inner realizations. There was still this massive gap between who I wanted to be and who I felt like I was.
In today’s letter, I’ll be sharing all of the mindset shifts that made my life do a complete 180-degree change.
STEP 1: Act as though you are building reality from scratch.
I posted a video on this recently. Your past is nothing but a cluster of language and visuals that pop up in your mind that you identify with.
It no longer exists. The past is no longer actually happening. Any emotional charge you have from the past arises in the Now. Meaning, this present moment is all there is.
So… the past (meaning your concept of who you are, what you attract, how people treat you) can only have a hold over you if you let it.
You can choose to see your reality differently than you ever have before. You can choose not to react in the same way you are used to.
The way I LOVE tapping into this mindset is by going on a walking meditation and silently observing everything as if I were a baby. I take all of the language and automatic labels out of what I am seeing. ONLY perceive. Sometimes, compulsive thoughts, stories, and associations can take away from the magic and novelty that is always available to us.
🫧 THOUGHT EXPERIMENT: If today were your first day on this earth, and you had no past, no identity you were tied to, no automatic thinking… what would you do differently? How would you feel? 🫧
STEP 2: Movement.
Not just physical movement (even though that is an INCREDIBLE way to alchemize negative emotions and anxiety). Movement towards the things that scare you.
The things that you feel the most resistance about will change your life the most.
Deep down, you already know exactly what you need to do to shift into the person you desire to be. No one can give you the answers that are within your heart. Guides like myself and others are only here to hold up a mirror, so you can see how powerful and capable you ALREADY are.
The only thing stopping you from change is this misconception that you need to be perfect or your external reality needs to give you the thumbs up. But change is messy. Being seen trying is vulnerable. Sometimes, you need to leap, and THEN the net appears.
Let this be your reminder that you wouldn’t have the desire if you didn’t also already have the capability.
Let yourself move.
STEP 3: Find joy in your routines rather than outcomes.
Tying one’s worth to outcomes is a downward spiral.
A regulated nervous system does not constantly check for results or obsess over the “how.” I’ve been a victim of this myself, and trust me, it never works.
Worry feels like it’s doing something productive, but it’s just pretending to be necessary. It is just anxiety feeding off of more thinking.
So… what to do instead? Find power in counting your blessings. I mean literally. Our brains are hardwired to have a negativity bias, so we need to actively train them.
Which areas or moments in your life have worked out?
Where have you grown?
What things used to bother you that you don’t even think about anymore?
What prayers were answered in your life?
Also, find joy in the simple pleasures. The smell of coffee, the warmth of the sun, the rush of a new idea. These small things pull us back into the present to remind us that we actually do have the answers. We actually are right where we need to be. Things will be okay.
STEP 4: Change your environment.
My 21-day challenge tribe was instructed twice during the challenge to intentionally design their environments.
The first time, it was in a way to make their desired habits easier. The second time, it was to remind them of their highest selves and the fact that they can embody them in any given moment.
We are constantly being influenced and receiving nudges from what we are surrounded by, whether it is people, habits that are easy to access, or a city.
Start with the 1% changes. Delete old photos. Change your lockscreen to something that makes you smile. Make your desired habits visible and easy to access. The less resistance, the more likely you are to do them.
Remind yourself that you and you are on the same team. Lasting change can only come from a place of acceptance. If it comes from a place of shame or fear, it will be unsustainable. Always remind yourself of how far you’ve come, and that joy always has a habit of returning.
I am wishing you all a magical, synchronistic Sunday. 💖
