How to Fully Rest Your Mind After Overthinking
The art of resting mindfully
I have been taking a break from YouTube (I’ll be back this week😌).
Something surprising happened while I allowed myself to rest and call my energy back:
My YouTube and business grew more than ever, even compared to times I was posting consistently.
Nine weeks ago, I was on vacation with just over 3k subscribers. I set a goal of hitting 10k in 10 weeks. I don’t know if I’ll reach it, but in just the past two weeks, I’ve seen the fastest growth I’ve ever had on the platform.
And this is what happens when you rest mindfully.
You are able to make more effective moves with less effort. Source and the Universe give you exactly what you need to grow.
Consume less.
A lot of people (myself included sometimes) think rest = consuming.
Consuming content, media, music, etc.
Although this is important, real rest means allowing your mind to exist in silence.
New ideas and clarity can not flow if you are always trying to fill your mind with information.
Write. A lot.
I’ve been asked to share my journaling method before.
Here is what I do when I feel pressure in my chest, and like things are building up:
Brain dump. Allow yourself to get triggered. Or allow yourself to get giddy.
Write it all: names, embarrassing thoughts, anxious spirals. No judgment.
It’s not you. It’s energy moving through your body.
Once everything currently on your mind is out, set clear intentions. I ask myself:
What can I do today that will bring me closer to my higher self?
How can I live today as if I already have all I desire?
Walk in nature.
Nature is a safe space for all humans. As Rosemary Gladstar said:
“Talking to plants is one way of talking directly to Spirit.”
Here are specific practices I do when I need grounding:
Sit with your spine against a tree and envision it is taking your hurt, your past, and old energies that no longer serve you for itself in a mutual energy exchange. Feel your old energies flowing into it’s trunk, it’s roots, being alchemized in a way that helps the tree. If you don’t believe that, that’s totally okay, but the brain is extremely powerful and it’s a strong visualization exercise.
Walk barefoot on the grass. There is nothing quite like allowing your bare feet to touch the earth.
Sit in meditation, and allow the sounds of birds chirping, humans walking, and trees rustling to appear and then dissapear, again and again, all around you.
Take yourself on a date.
Let’s normalize this. Society has normalized trying to date around and “find someone,” but have you established a real relationship with yourself?
Just like journaling, sometimes I will sit with myself during a meal and talk alone. Sure, some people think it’s weird, but it’s an effective way of forming a genuine connection.
No one else knows what you have gone through, the way you think, and how you feel about something.
Only you know what you can say and do to make yourself feel fully loved.
Have a great week🌞
