How to Free Yourself From Unwanted Thoughts
3 Do’s (and Don’ts) of Spiraling
Happy Sunday 🌞

🌿 Do: Lean in fully and get curious about the root emotion.
Many of my depressive episodes were prolonged because I rejected fully feeling.
Some say there are “high” and “low” emotions, and you should be in a “high vibrational” state all the time.
This is a lie.
What’s truly “high vibrational” is experiencing the full range of human emotion with acceptance.
Not trying to control it, not shaming the moment or yourself if it doesn’t go exactly your way. We are all human. Lean into your emotions and listen to what they have to say.
🚫 Don’t: Feed the thinking mind.
This can look like:
Searching for endless explanations
Looping over past scenarios
Believing you’re broken or need fixing
Thinking that thoughts can be solved with more thinking.
Our brains trick us with stories and can make us spiral into our “thinking mind.”
These thoughts are symptoms of a root belief or emotion that comes from an unacknowledged past wound.
Understanding this comes with so much freedom. Because even if you still feel the pain of the wound that wants to be recognized, you can still understand that none of these thoughts are you. They’re not real. And every. single. human. experiences this.
So breathe. Shake it out. Come back into your body and out of your thinking mind.
🌿 Do: Gently peel back the layers and explore the root cause.
If this is more than just a couple of low-energy days and is a repeated pattern, use the why method. Here’s how:
My hurt self: I feel so insecure. I feel anxiety consuming me.
My higher self: Why?
My hurt self: I just feel like I’m not good enough.
My higher self: Why?
My hurt self: Because I’m comparing myself to others.
My higher self: Why?
My hurt self: Well… I was taught to do that at a young age by peers. It’s hard not to.
My higher self: Why?
My hurt self: Well…it’s a habit.
My higher self: Why can’t you make a new habit?
My hurt self: ….
Unwanted thoughts & deep emotions usually stem from old wounds and beliefs that were never yours.
The why method takes practice, but allow your compassionate self to come in to speak with you, or journal this out.
🚫 Don’t: Box yourself in with labels.
Holding too tightly to labels or diagnoses can sometimes take away your power.
When I clung to labels like “I have OCD” or “I can’t because of my depression,” I unknowingly limited my ability to grow and heal.
Before you let any label define you, ask: Is this helping me move forward?
Labels can help provide understanding, but they should never define your potential. Your brain is more powerful than you realize. In every moment, you can choose who you want to become. This is where radical responsibility begins.
🌿 Do: Ask for support from the Universe, your spirit team, or even just your higher self.
You’re not alone in this.
The more you open yourself up to a connection to the Divine, the more you realize just how much you are supported.
I remember talking to my spirit team and higher self used to feel so silly, but I now do it regularly. You are always being listened to, even when you’re alone.
🚫 Don’t: Forget that this moment, and this thought, will pass.
No thought or feeling lasts forever.
We’re all just riding the wave. No matter how real or all-encompassing it feels, I promise you that it will end.
So, might as well fully lean into it and try to understand what it is telling you.
❤️ Sending you guys so much love and light on this journey.
