how to come back to your power: full nervous system reset 🍀

✨ 3 steps ✨

Happy Monday, alchemist! 💕✨

Suffering and anxiety can actually be our biggest teachers sometimes, as they communicate with us when we are out of alignment or going against our true nature.

In the spirit of authenticity, I’m writing this letter today in the thick of it. I haven’t been feeling myself the past few days, and my nervous system has felt dysregulated, so this letter comes to you from a place of real-time application!!

I say that because sometimes it helps to know you’re not alone. We are all in this strange yet beautiful human experience together, each with our own little bag of confusion, joy, and inner wisdom.

Here are some truths that are helping bring me back into alignment and regulation right now. 🫂💕

1. The mind will spin you in circles if the body does not feel safe.

Nothing is more draining than the stories that our ego and old programming tell us.

If a thought leads to tension or more thinking, that is our body telling us we are going the wrong way.

So rather than feeding more thinking, come back to the body. When the body does not feel safe, you won’t find your solutions in more thinking.

As one of my favorite spiritual teachers of all time, Eckhart Tolle, says: “Worry pretends to be necessary.” Worry is very convincing. But when have you ever found a helpful, inspired solution in the energy of worry?

This is why coming back to the body in these moments is KEY. Here’s what’s been helping me:

  • SHAKE TF OUT any weirdness or excess energy. I mean, PHYSICALLY shake. Let yourself get silly. A great somatic release technique is somatic shaking.

  • Place your hands on your heart. Talk to your body. Ask it, what can I do to help you feel safe? I’m so sorry you’re going through this. How can I help?

  • Going for long walks without a phone.

2. Understimulate yourself to listen to your inner wisdom.

Before making a decision, you must first regulate the body and FEEL the emotions present without judgment. Try this simple method I created:

🌀 The FEEL-LABEL-DECIDE Method of Moving Through Hard Times 🌀

  • Step 1: FEEL. Allow allllll those emotions and physical sensations to come up without holding back. Let yourself cry! Journal it out! Talk to yourself in the mirror!! This is where understimulating yourself comes in! When you’re stimulated, whether through scrolling or immediately trying to solve a problem, you’re not feeling your emotions. Remember that feeling and sitting with emotions is extremely healthy. See them as just a passing wave of energy moving through your body.

  • Step 2: LABEL. Any thought that comes up that makes you feel constricted, tense, or brings rumination, LABEL IT as coming from the ego or an old identity. The moment you label a thought, it is no longer in control. You become the observer rather than the thinker. It’s just the fear response. Come back to the body. 🫂🤍

  • Step 3: DECIDE. After steps 1 and 2, take a deeeeeep belly breath. Tune into the version of you where this thing is no longer an issue. The version of you who has moved through it with grace and wisdom, and is existing peacefully and happily. DECIDE from that place. What did they do in this situation? What choice did they make? What perspective shift did they have?

3. Allow yourself to be human.

Shaming and suppressing emotions is counterintuitive. The only reason why we do it is because of societal conditioning. It never comes from inner wisdom. When you approach your inner world in a gentle way, you are building self-trust and self-compassion.

My last letter received many replies from you lovely folks, saying that you don’t want to feel doubt, or are trying to push away fear. It’s literally part of the process. It’s just a human emotional experience. There’s nothing wrong with you.

Do you feel that sense of freedom when you allow yourself to just surrender to the emotional experience? Good! That’s how it feels to be in flow with the universe.

Sometimes it’s choppy waves, other times it’s a calm stream, but at the end of the day, it’s all beautiful, glowing water.

The random negative pop-up thoughts and emotions don’t make you any less inevitable or any less capable. If you want to create a life of joy, freedom, and abundance, it starts with allowing yourself to feel safe and understood during darker times. The darker times teach us so much about how to love and show up for ourselves.

Sending you hugs. 🍀🫂
